Discover the Moai

Pick up time: 09:30 am
Duration: 6 to 7 hrs.

We will hike between the moai discovering how they were carved and moved from this magnificent volcano and finally transported to their Ahu or platfroms.

Birdman Competition

After all the moai were toppled, the Rapa Nui people began a new political system that will change their lives and make them organize themselves, choosing a new spiritual leader every year.

Topknots & Giants

The Rapa Nui also felt the need to adorn the heads of the moai with the famous “pukao”. These massive cylindrical shaped topknots made with red scoria rock, were scattered near many of the ahu or platforms after the tribal wars which were carved out from a quarry known as Puna Pau.

Fallen Giants

The time of warfare and hunger that the Rapa Nui people went through can be seen and felt in this tour. You will observe platforms in ruins, with toppled statues facing downwards that have completely lost the “ mana” from their ancestors.

Highlight tour

Our highlight tour was designed for those visitors that are staying for a very limited time (24 hrs or a bit more) The best mix of the most amazing and “must see” places to visit are included in this tour

Boat Tour and Bird Watching

The “Motu” or islets can only be seen from “Orongo” or by boat. This is an incredible way to get to know them. The tour starts from “Hanga Piko Bay” where you will get in the same boats that go fishing the big “Yellow Fin Tuna”. Then, you will cruise along volcanic rocky coasts.

Sunrise Tour

Wake up early to be the spectator of the most beautiful sunrise ever!

We will ride along the south east coast in complete darkness towards Ahu Tongariki. When we get there, we will stand in front of the platform and wait for the first rays of light to appear from behind it.

Cave Tours

We will walk around the Roiho area exploring several lava tube formations. These caves were home for many Rapa Nui people in old times.

Hiking the Island

Let’s hike the highest volcano with 511 meters above the sea level! Along the way you will observe 360º of the earth’s curvature and the whole island. Along the way to the top, we will find ourselves with Roiho volcano and its crater lake covered by totora reeds.
